MCT Now Available in Several Continents

qlts mct locationsIn yet another positive move for would-be Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS) candidates, Kaplan QLTS, the official assessment provider for the scheme, has announced that it will be possible to sit the Multiple Choice Test (MCT), Part I of the QLTS, in multiple international locations from February 2016.

Kaplan has teamed up with Pearson, the international education company, and will be offering the MCT as a computer-based assessment, delivered in several cities in Europe, New York City, Singapore, China, Russia, Turkey, Johannesburg, India and Dubai, in addition to London and other locations in the UK.

Candidates applying for the February assessment will hear further from Pearson directly, in order to choose their preferred location for the assessment, subject to availability and local public holidays. Pearson also allows candidates to view seat availability on its website.

As well as improving accessibility and choice, this move will also bring about a direct cost saving for candidates, particularly those already based in the same city as an assessment location. The computer-based format is likely to also lead to candidates receiving their results quicker than under the current paper-based format.

This move follows on from the changes to the QLTS approved by the SRA earlier this year, which removed the need for any candidates to undertake an English examination, or apply for a certificate of eligibility before booking a place on the assessments.

The OSCE assessment, Part II of the QLTS, part of which involves role-playing scenarios, remains available in London only.
